Retro High School Fantasy Football Team

Fantasy football is the most popular fantasy game in America. For over 15 years, friends and co-workers have formed leagues and socialized over this country’s most popular sport. High school statistics are a bit more inflated due to superior teams occasionally playing against inferior competition. However, big statistics are what fantasy leagues are based on, so here’s your retro high school fantasy football team. One that easily would have lead your team to a league championship.

10. T.A. McClendon (Albemarle, NC) – McClendon rushed for 71 touchdowns in the 2001 season. What more do you want from a running back? McClendon went on to star for North Carolina State in the early 2000’s.

9. Michael Hart (Nedrow Onondaga, NY) – In the 2003 season, Hart scored 304 total points. His combined rushing and receiving points led the nation that year. It’s a record that still stands today. Hart went on to star as running back for The University of Michigan and now plays in the NFL.

8. Jimmy Stevens (Oklahoma City Heritage Hall, OK) – Stevens kicked 22 field goals in the 2005 season. Though often overlooked, remember that every fantasy football team needs a kicker.

7. Jim Linnstaeder (Brenham, TX) – Every fantasy football team needs defense. Way back in 1956, Linnstaeder had 35 interceptions in one season. He’d be the perfect defender to build your retro high school fantasy team around.

6. Cody Cardwell (Stephenville, TX) – In the 1998 season, Cardwell had 2,427 receiving yards. That’s enormous yardage for fantasy purposes.

5. Mohamed Massaquoi (Charlotte Independence, NC) – Massaquoi’s 2004 season would have been a dream for fantasy football receivers. He caught an astounding 32 touchdown passes. Massaquoi went on star for the University of Georgia.

4. Derek Bair (Galva Canton-Galva, KS) – Bair is your special teams maven. In 2005, Bair had 7 kickoff returns for touchdowns.

3. J.R. House (Nitro, WV) – The 1998 season saw House complete a staggering 425 of 610 attempts, for a 69.7% completion percentage.

2. Ben Mauk (Kenton, OH) – Mauk threw for 6,540 yards in the 2002 season. That’s a lot of yardage for your retro high school fantasy football team.

1. Corey Robinson (Lone Oak, NY) – Recently, in the 2007 season, Robinson threw for a record 91 touchdowns. The name of the fantasy game is touchdowns, and Robinson definitely delivered the goods.
